A word on short-term rentals

Each community above has its own nightly rental rules, set by its city or, outside city limits, by the county. HOAs can add more on top. Several have changed recently: Kamas paused new short-term rentals in 2025, Summit County began discussing new limits in some neighborhoods in June 2026, Salt Lake City began licensing short-term rentals in 2026 and only allows them in certain zones, and Midway pulled back the boundaries of its rental zone in September 2026. I check the current rules for any home you're serious about.
